Message I had seen Z32's around but knew they were out of reach financially, so didn't pay too much attention to them.

The bug really bit me in the summer of 1995 while I was still in college. My girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend had just graduated, and he pulled up in a brand-spanking new black on black 1995 TwinTurbo 5-spd with the T-tops out.

Holy crap. I was in awe.

After that I had to have a Z32. Took me a couple more years, and I finally picked up my black Z32 up in 1998. I still think about that day, lol.

My Z was an NA when I got her back in 1998, but I also remember the day I had my first ride in a TwinTurbo and knew I had to have a (modded) TT. We were at a ZCOT (Z Club of Texas) meet, and a guy in a silver 1996 TT had a Greddy PE exhaust on his car like my NA. As he got in his car to leave, I asked him to rev it so I could hear the PE on a TT. I mentioned that I had never been in a TT before, and he said "Get in!" I told him I wasn't interested, as I liked my NA just fine, and didn't want it to feel slow. He said, " I wasn't asking, I was telling you, GET IN NOW" I protested a bit more, and he was like "I'll put this $20 (or $100?) on the dash, and when I hit boost if you can grab it, you can have it.

So I got in.

We went up the on-ramp to get on the interstate. Smoked 1st. Smoked 2nd. Barked into 3rd really well. At the top of the on-ramp at about 90+ he shifted into 4th and chirped the tires. HOLY SHIT. He hit I don't know how fast, then took an exit, swung under an underpass and said "You want to drive it?"

Duh!

I gingnerly got back on the interstate and was doing about 70. I asked how hard I could get on it, and he said "take it to the rev limit!" So, I blipped the gas, dropped it into 3rd, held it there for a second or two, then went WOT. HOLY F'ING CRAP! From 70 to 120 only took a few seconds. It was insane. Slow down to 70, downshift, go WOT back to 110-120 or so again. Did that a few times and had the biggest shit-eating grin I ever remember having! That stupid grin stayed on my face for a week, I swear!

This was circa 1999 or 2000, and the car was a 1996. The guy had swapped the engine harness so he could run a JWT ECU. He had (as I recall) a 6-puck clutch, LWF, 555's, bigger intercoolers, intake, cat-back, and was running T28(?) turbos @ 17 psi. Everything else was stock, wheels, suspension, etc.

It's still the quickest/fastest thing I've ever driven to this day.

Mike
